Of course there are two names that people think of when that 2004 team is discussed, co-head coaches for the Fiesta Bowl, Urban Meyer and Kyle Whittingham. Coach Meyer lead a loaded coaching staff that season, that produced the amazing results on the field. Fans now, looking back, may not realize the talent that coaching staff had on it.

I'll list out some names that people may have forgotten, or didn't realize was on that staff, and where they have been since that amazing season. Tim McDermott joined the Utes staff as the Director of Operations and Face off specialist. He played for Geneseo (D-III) for 3 seasons where was a two-time All-American and led the NCAA in face-off win percentage in the 2006 season. After graduating with a Business Administration degree, McDermott transferred to Loyola where he played in 12 games, winning 109 face-offs for a 0.586% record all while earning and MBA. Is entering his seventh season with the Roadrunners and his third as the defensive coordinator. Brings his 12 years of experience of performing various roles as an assistant coach at the community college level where they won 3 Conference Championships, 1 Division Championship, and had 3 Bowl Game appearances.

Also teaches classes in the Health and Physical Education Department at Yuba College. When Whittingham joined Utah's coaching staff way back in 1994 as a defensive line coach, and even when he was hired as the head coach a decade later, he had no idea that he'd wind up as the school's winningest coach. In 2008, Whittingham engineered the best season in Utah football history. The Utes went 13-0—concluding the season with a Sugar Bowl rout of Alabama, a team that had spent five weeks at No. 1.
